Kansas City International Airport (MCI) Travel and Transport

Kansas City International Airport (MCI) offers travelers a wide range of ground transportation options to suit every passenger's needs and travel requirements.

Serving Kansas City and the surrounding area, travel and transport facilities at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) include bus, shuttle bus, car rental, limousine and taxi services. Courtesy airport shuttle buses travel between the airport's terminal buildings.

Travel by Buses

Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is served by many regular public buses that travel from the airport's terminal buildings to central Kansas City and other nearby towns. Buses at Kansas City Airport run daily at regular intervals and are an inexpensive and useful way to travel into the city.

Travel by Shuttle Buses (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

Shuttle buses are also available at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and travel to over 60 destinations in and around Kansas City. Operated by the Metro (bus), the airport's shuttle buses collect passengers from outside of the airport's terminal building eight times a day, at regular intervals. Travel by Taxi Cabs

Taxis are readily available at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and can be arranged by using the courtesy phones inside and outside of each of the airport's terminals, close to the baggage reclaim areas. They provide a convenient and easy way to travel into nearby Kansas City and other destinations. The journey from Kansas City Airport into central Kansas City will take around 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Official Kansas City MCI airport taxi cabs should be used at all times to ensure safety and also to avoid being overcharged.

The airport taxi meters in Kansas City start at a basic fare, but additional charges are usually made for luggage, late-night driving and travel on public holidays in Kansas City, so it can prove useful to ask the taxi driver about these before leaving. Some Kansas City Airport taxis are happy to accept credit cards and also share passengers headed in the same direction. (Base fare plus $2.10 per mile – airport is approximately 20 miles from the Westin Crown Center.)
